The ERYD 40 XSM is a new-generation racing yacht designed by Emanuele Rossi and built by Mauri Nautica in Italy. This example, hull number one, is delivered as a dedicated race variant with a 2.95-meter draft keel, tiller steering, and square-headed mainsail. The boat was engineered using sophisticated velocity prediction and computational fluid dynamics to deliver balanced, high-performance behavior in both windward-leeward and coastal racing under ORC and IRC rating systems.
Construction employs vacuum-infused fiberglass and e-glass with epoxy resin and Corecell sandwich, post-cured in a kiln for structural rigidity. The hull incorporates unidirectional glass lamination and a pronounced reverse sheer that minimizes weight in the ends while maximizing longitudinal stiffness and interior volume. A Pauger carbon mast, boom, and vang pair with stainless steel rod rigging, hydraulic mast-jack, and Harken deck gear fitted with Performa winches. The mainsail is square-headed with runners; the full sail wardrobe includes gennaker, staysail gennaker, staysail jib, and Code 0 on a carbon bowsprit, all by 3FL Sail Design. A Nanni 38-horsepower diesel engine with sail drive and Gori racing propeller provides auxiliary power.
The interior offers three cabins and one head, with a spacious dinette, galley to port, and bathroom to starboard. Headroom is 1.93 meters. Topsides, decks, and cockpit are finished in metallic blue. Navigation and systems include a B&G instrument package with Nemesis mast displays, Zeus plotter, Triton 2 autopilot, and V60 VHF with DSC, plus CZone digital switching, Mastervolt battery chargers and inverter, and Victron galvanic isolator. Shorepower is available, and systems include pressurized fresh water to galley and heads, a gimballed gas stove, and refrigeration.
