2024 Excess 14

The 2024 Excess 14 is a 45-foot fiberglass catamaran designed for active sailing and extended cruising. Built on VPLP Design's lightweight platform with interiors by Nauta Design, the boat combines the Excess signature twin aft helm stations with fine entries and a hull built for responsive performance. Twin 114 hp Yanmar diesel engines provide propulsion, with cruising speeds near 8 knots and a maximum speed of 8.4 knots.

Deck systems are oriented toward efficient, short-handed sailing. The Tall Rig "Pulse Line" sail plan and sailing-focused layout are paired with four electric Harken winches and integrated line management. The helm stations offer the dual-position design for which Excess catamarans are known.

Below deck, the layout comprises three cabins, three heads, and a main saloon with good sightlines and ventilation throughout. The owner's cabin includes dedicated wardrobe and dressing space that can convert to additional berths. The three heads are configured as dry-bath style with walk-in showers. Ash timber finishes and modern detailing define the interior aesthetic.

Systems support extended autonomous cruising: a 990 Ah Victron lithium battery bank, over 2000 W of solar generation, Victron management with nav station monitoring, Starlink Gen 2 satellite internet, a 50 LPH watermaker, washer and dryer, and factory-installed air conditioning across five zones. No generator is installed, allowing systems to run efficiently from renewable sources.
