The 2024 Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 is a modern fiberglass catamaran with a 41-foot hull and nearly 24-foot beam, powered by twin 100-horsepower Volvo engines under sail. The design combines cruising comfort with practical seamanship, featuring a helm station protected by a bimini, dual VHF radio with AIS capability, and comprehensive GARMIN navigation systems including autopilot, dual GPS units, and radar.
The three-cabin layout accommodates multiple crew or families, with three heads and a functional saloon. Accommodations include a gas oven, separate cockpit and cabin refrigeration with a 90-liter freezer, electric fresh water head, and a combined washer-dryer unit. The interior features synthetic teak floors and handrails throughout for safety underway. Climate control is managed by a 56,000 BTU air-conditioning system.
The yacht is well-equipped for extended cruising. Power generation includes a 9-kilowatt generator, four solar panels totaling 360–400 watts, and an additional 150-amp AGM battery. The watermaker produces 180 liters per hour. Sail handling is streamlined through a PROFURL genoa furler, automatic mainsail hook, and an electric winch for genoa sheets. Additional features include a bow electric platform, upgraded windlass with chain counter, and an electric platform rated for 150 kilograms maximum load.
Exterior amenities include bow seats, natural wood-finish transoms and cockpit decking, outdoor cushions, and a gas plancha for cooking. Antifouling and epoxy primer protect the hull below the waterline.
