The Nautitech 40 Open is a modern cruising catamaran built from fiberglass using vacuum infusion and closed-cell foam core construction. Designed by Marc Lombard, this 2024 yacht combines sailing performance with cruising comfort across a single, open-plan living level. Twin helms positioned at the quarters offer excellent visibility and control, while the efficient fin keels and spade rudders deliver responsive sailing characteristics. Dual Volvo Penta diesel engines of 60 hp each, with approximately 750 hours, power the yacht smoothly, and folding propellers minimize drag under sail.
The interior follows the Explorer owner's version layout, with the port hull dedicated entirely to the owner. This includes a queen berth aft, a forward owner's cabin with walk-in shower and separate head, and a center owner's desk. The starboard hull mirrors this with a large guest cabin aft and an additional cabin in the forepeak with mattress and ventilation. Both hulls feature upgraded mattresses, extensive lighting, blackout shades, and mosquito nets. The saloon spans the catamaran's width with 360-degree views and a lowering table that doubles as a bunk. A well-appointed galley sits adjacent to the cockpit, fitted with a three-burner stove and separate oven, plus dual refrigerators and a freezer. A washing machine rounds out the living spaces.
The energy system represents a significant upgrade, professionally installed for off-grid sailing. Twelve solar panels totaling 1,452 watts feed eight smart lithium batteries with 864 amp-hours of capacity. A Victron 3,000-watt inverter-charger and dual DC-to-DC chargers provide power management. A 12-volt watermaker produces 60 liters per hour. Navigation and control rely on a comprehensive Raymarine B&G package with dual 9-inch displays at each helm, a chartplotter, autopilot, 4G radar, and AIS at both frequencies. Sails include a mainsail with stackpack, self-tacking jib, gennaker reacher, and a Parasailor with the Easy Snuffer system and cruising upgrade.
Safety and tender equipment are complete: twin life rafts rated for six and four persons with grab bag, a 3.1-meter Highfield tender with new 2024 Suzuki outboard, automatic lifevests with tethers, and emergency signaling devices including EPIRB and man-overboard units. The yacht carries a Delta anchor with 60 meters of chain and electric windlass with remote. Coppercoat antifouling provides extended hull protection. Fuel capacity is 106 gallons and water capacity 158 gallons.
