The Outremer 4X is a 48-foot performance catamaran built from composite, powered by twin Nanni diesel engines of 70 horsepower each. This 2025 model represents the latest iteration of a design that has established itself as the reference standard in the 45–50 foot segment since 2016. The hull form prioritizes lightweight construction and seaworthiness, enabling the boat to perform equally well in rallies, ocean crossings, and long-distance cruising.
This particular example was configured from the outset with a focus on racing-oriented performance. Carbon fiber is extensively used throughout—rotating mast, structural elements, and weight optimization—to lower the center of gravity and maximize sailing efficiency. The sail wardrobe includes a D4 Incidence suit: genoa, solent, storm jib, Code 0, gennaker, and spinnaker under sock, providing complete coverage across wind ranges. Barker & Glynn electronics support precise trimming and performance optimization.
The boat has been conservatively used since launching. It received one passage delivery from Lorient to La Grande-Motte followed by local sailing only, with no racing or heavy use. The 4X's reputation rests on its balance between outright performance and genuine livability at sea—frank acceleration, natural helm feel, and silent reaching under sail. This example delivers that character without compromise.
