2025 Rapido 40R

The Rapido 40R is a high-performance racing trimaran built entirely in carbon composite with foam sandwich construction, designed by Morrelli & Melvin. At 44.6 feet in length with a beam of 28.9 feet, it features folding floats that reduce beam to 18 feet for marina and shipping access. The boat is powered by a single Yanmar 29-horsepower diesel engine with shaft drive and folding propeller. Commission testing covered approximately 1,800 nautical miles and achieved a top speed of 22 knots.

The design prioritizes weight reduction and racing capability through a spreaderless carbon wing mast standing 19.5 meters, carbon C-foil daggerboards with variable draft between 0.87 and 2.18 meters, and a carbon T-foil kick-up rudder blade. The boat carries a comprehensive North Sails 3Di racing wardrobe including a square-top mainsail, Code 55 and Code 65 downwind sails, self-tacking jib, and furling staysail. Harken primary winches feature electric operation for easier crewing. The boat holds CE Category-A Ocean certification with watertight bulkheads and Coppercoat antifouling.

Below deck, accommodation comprises two double berths and a settee-bunk in the saloon. The galley features an induction hob and Bushman portable fridge-freezer. A Rainman watermaker and pressurized fresh water system support extended passages. Navigation and sailing instrumentation includes a B&G Zeus3 chartplotter, Halo20+ radar, H5000 sailing processor, Triton 2 autopilot, and VHF with AIS. Electrical power comes from a Mastervolt lithium battery system with 2,000-watt inverter and engine alternator charging.
