The Seahorse Coot38 is a steel-hulled trawler designed for extended cruising across inland waterways, coastal routes, and open water. Built to China Classification Society Category III standards, the hull features a 12mm keel shoe and a rust-resistant fiberglass superstructure, reinforced with commercial-grade windows, doors, and hatches. A single John Deere diesel engine rated at 85 hp powers the boat to a maximum speed of 6.95 knots with a cruising speed of 6.08 knots, delivering a range of 1500 nautical miles at cruise. The boat carries 650 gallons of fuel and 150 gallons of fresh water.

The Coot38 sleeps four people and can accommodate up to twelve aboard. The pilothouse seats four and overlooks the main saloon, which features a port-side dinette that seats five and converts to a double bed, with additional seating or chairs to starboard. Two cabins and a single head complete the interior layout.

The design emphasizes seaworthiness and liveaboard comfort for extended voyages. An optional powered folding mast makes the boat suitable for French canal transit. The yacht's strong construction, fuel economy, and long-range capability make it capable for loop cruising, coastal exploration, and extended passages in moderate sea conditions.
