The 280 Dauntless is a 28-foot center console built on Boston Whaler's fiberglass hull design, powered by twin Mercury engines delivering 600 horsepower. Designed as a multipurpose bay boat capable of offshore work, it combines a wide beam of nine feet with a layout suited equally to inshore fishing and open-water angling. The boat's construction emphasizes stability and safety, core strengths of the Whaler platform.
The helm features an innovative captain's chair that converts to a leaning post or stern-facing bench seat for trolling positions. A spacious forward lounge conceals a large storage garage for dive gear, buckets, and rods. The boat includes a transom livewell, a pump-out forward fishbox, and ample rod storage throughout. Integrated Simrad navigation and digital switching technology for lighting and electronics provide modern control and battery efficiency. A full windshield option is available for weather protection with ventilation and wiper wash.
Fishing and water pursuits are central to the design. Options include a pre-rigged trolling motor panel or a fully installed 36V MotorGuide Xl-5 trolling motor, Power Pole shallow-water anchoring systems, and a Seakeeper gyro-stabilizing system. The large swim platform accommodates an optional fold-out patio. An optional windlass and beach boarding ladder simplify anchoring and water access. Engine configurations range from a single 400-horsepower option to multiple dual-engine packages with joystick piloting. Entertainment upgrades include an improved stereo system and RGB lighting options.
