The Mazarin 55 HYBRID - EVO II is a 55-foot catamaran built in fiberglass with a parallel hybrid propulsion system engineered by E-Motion Italy. The boat carries four Yanmar diesel engines totaling 1,270 horsepower, paired with two 145-kilowatt electric drive motors, two 15-kilowatt inverters, and dual 79-kilowatt-hour battery banks certified by Lloyds and RINA. Additional power generation comes from 10,300 watts of solar panels and a 15-kilowatt battery charger with switchable voltage and frequency input.
The propulsion flexibility allows multiple operating modes: pure diesel power delivering 24 knots, hybrid operation at 10 knots sustained on combined electric and diesel with consumption of 3 liters per hour, electric-only cruising at 7 knots continuous or 10 knots with one engine running as generator, and short-burst electric performance reaching 14 knots. Solar integration reduces fuel dependency during passage-making.
The catamaran offers five cabins and five heads, with a beam of 27.58 feet providing interior volume typical of the class. The design accommodates both cruising and extended voyaging, with electrical redundancy across all major systems and the option of single-engine operation with the second diesel functioning as a generator. Alternative engine configurations are available in larger 440-horsepower or smaller 370-horsepower Yanmar packages.
