2026 Scout 281 XSS

The 2026 Scout 281 XSS is a 28-foot bay boat built on Scout's advanced stepped hull design, engineered to handle both shallow inshore waters and open offshore conditions. At nearly 9'4" in beam, the boat balances shallow-draft access with the stability and sea-keeping qualities needed for bigger water. Twin Mercury 300XXL Verado V8 engines power the boat and pair with joystick control, Skyhook station-keeping, electric steering, active trim, and autopilot for precise maneuvering and hands-free operation.

This build features a full Crystal Blue hull finished with the Midnight Edition package—black powder coat, carbon fiber hardtop frame, and black hardware accents throughout. The stepped hull design combined with the aggressive styling and detail work creates a purposeful, modern appearance. Navigation and control are handled by dual Garmin 1243XSV displays with a GT12M transducer and VHF 315 radio integrated at the helm.

The boat is equipped with dual jack plates, a deluxe stereo system featuring eight 7.7-inch speakers, a 10-inch subwoofer, and dual JL Audio amplifiers. Underwater lighting includes two Lumishore LED units and a Lumitec light bar. Functional features include hardtop-mounted rocket launchers, a Phenton Pro fender system, dual livewell conversions, a self-contained porcelain head with overboard discharge pump, windshield wipers, rod and cup holders, and comprehensive lighting throughout the helm and under-gunnel areas.
