The 2026 Scout 281 XSS is a 28-foot bay boat built on a fiberglass hull with an aggressive 9-foot-4-inch beam. The boat features Scout's double-stepped hull design, which maximizes speed and efficiency while holding draft to just 18 inches—a combination that enables both shallow-water access and offshore capability. The boat is rated for up to 600 horsepower.

The cockpit layout centers on fishing functionality with a massive casting deck, dual 18-gallon aerated baitwells, a recirculating livewell in the leaning post, coffin box storage, and an expansive anchor locker.
