The 2026 Scout 281 XSS is a 28-foot composite bay boat designed for fishing and recreational use in both inshore and offshore waters. Powered by a single Mercury 400 horsepower V10 Verado engine with electric steering, it combines shallow-water capability with offshore range. This particular example is configured as a Midnight Edition, featuring a black full hull color with carbon fiber accents throughout, including exposed carbon fiber hardtop legs and a carbon fiber-framed hardtop.
The boat includes dual helm stations—a lower main helm and an upper helm with full controls and backrests. Navigation and fishfinding are handled by Garmin electronics: a 24-inch primary display, a 12-inch upper helm screen, a transducer, and VHF radio. Lighting consists of a Lumitec light bar and dual LED Lumishore SMX24 underwater lights. A deluxe JL Audio stereo system includes eight 7.7-inch speakers, a 10-inch subwoofer, two amplifiers, and SiriusXM capability.
Comfort and storage features include a Bianca cushion package in gray with Seadek decking and canvas, a forward deck baseplate with butt seat extension, and a full storage boat cover. Black Edson steering wheels are fitted at both helm positions. The boat is equipped with a self-contained porcelain head and a diaphragm overboard discharge waste pump. Deck hardware includes a Power Pole, trolling motor, rocket launchers, and split bow rails with black caulking and gunmetal speakers and antennas throughout.
