The Surfari 50 is a 50-foot sailing yacht designed by naval architect Edward Fontaine and built by Pacific Seacraft. The boat combines performance under sail with auxiliary power from twin Yanmar diesel engines rated at 160 horsepower each. Construction uses lightweight composite materials with a carbon fiber mast and boom. The hull measures 14.5 feet at the beam.
The design emphasizes open-plan living and water access. A distinctive 11.5-foot-wide "tailgate" lowers from the stern and integrates with a single-level floor that runs continuously from the swim platform through the cockpit, deck salon, and helm station. This arrangement creates unobstructed space for water sports equipment and small craft. The interior benefits from 360-degree visibility through a large sliding glass companionway bulkhead, sliding side windows, and a full-width windshield.
The boat's sailing systems feature electrically powered controls for fingertip operation. The fully battened mainsail uses a Harken Battcar system, and sails include roller furling genoa and a furling asymmetrical spinnaker. All lines are led internally to the helm station. The accommodations include two cabins and one head, suitable for extended cruising and living aboard.
