1956 Aage Nielsen 50' Yawl

This 1956 Aage Nielsen 50-foot yawl is a wooden sailing yacht designed by K. Aage Nielson and built by the Paul Luke boatyard in East Boothbay, Maine. The boat features a full keel with bronze centerboard construction, exemplifying the quality craftsmanship and design standards of 1950s custom yacht building. She is powered by a single Yanmar diesel engine rated at 65 horsepower.

The hull below the waterline was completely replanked between 2002 and 2006 by Rockport Marine, along with replacement of the lower portions of most frames. During the same period, the cap rails, bulwarks, and deck were renewed, and the electrical system was rewired. The boat's structural and cosmetic condition reflects a history of consistent, proactive maintenance across her 70-year life.

The deck layout incorporates hydraulic sail control on the mainsail, which was replaced in 2024, and on the jib, which was replaced in 2025. Electric winches serve the main and primary sheets. Electronics, batteries, and a chart plotter were added in 2019. The boat measures 50 feet in length with a 12.67-foot beam and presents itself in above-average condition throughout.
