The Balance 540 is a 54-foot composite catamaran built on proven performance-cruising DNA. This newest flagship features a carbon-intensive construction throughout — carbon bulkheads, cabin soles, structural panels, daggerboards, rudders, forebeam, and longeron deliver superior stiffness and reduced weight for a refined, quieter ride. The optional Carbon Cross+ version extends carbon construction to the coach roof, cockpit, foredeck, and transoms. A cutter rig with three furling headsails, deep daggerboards, and electric winches enable upwind performance that points at least seven degrees higher than most comparable catamarans.
On deck, the VersaStern sliding transom doors open instantly for dock access or secure offshore with no washboards needed. The signature VersaHelm pivoting helm station rotates 90 degrees for four-corner visibility in all conditions. A wide, flush-sill sliding door connects the helm, cockpit, and galley seamlessly. Expansive hull portholes and a redesigned coachroof maximize natural ventilation and light throughout.
Below, the salon stretches over two and a half feet longer than its predecessor, finished with frameless cabinetry, real wood details, and an island galley suited for serious cruising. Multiple layout configurations accommodate three or four cabin owner versions. Thoughtful storage and exceptional visibility create a genuinely livable interior. The boat accommodates five cabins and four heads.
Propulsion comes from twin Yanmar diesel engines rated 57 horsepower each. An optional VersaDrive diesel-electric hybrid system with a 36 kW lithium battery bank reduces fuel consumption by up to 25 percent, while up to 3,000 watts of integrated roof-mounted solar panels provide silent charging at anchor. Fuel capacity totals 1,000 liters; fresh water, 780 liters.
