The 2027 Island Hopper is a 40-foot composite catamaran built using resin-infused core construction with epoxy resin and carbon reinforcement in high-load areas. Twin Yanmar diesel engines of 38 horsepower each provide propulsion. The design combines shallow draft with high bridge clearance and light displacement to minimize slamming, making it well-suited to coastal cruising and island exploration.
The layout centers on open deck space and sociability. A centerline helm console aft provides 360-degree sightlines. Two large forward trampolines and seating areas sit ahead of the main crossbeam, while a C-shaped bar with refrigeration and generous seating occupies the deck. The cabin accommodates three staterooms and two heads below.
Sail options include a self-tacking jib with traveler or bridle main-sheet systems, with halyards and reef lines led to the mast. The wide 21-foot beam and expansive deck plan support flexible use, from family cruising to entertaining groups. The boat features the choice of fixed keels or curved asymmetric dagger boards to suit different waters and sailing preferences.
