The Northwest 55 is a 55-foot fiberglass trawler built for extended cruising and long-distance passagemaking. Powered by twin John Deere diesel engines producing 330 horsepower each, she delivers a cruising speed of 8 knots and a maximum speed of 12 knots, with a semi-displacement hull designed for efficiency and a calm ride across varying sea states. The vacuum-bagged composite construction with vinyl ester resin protection and integrated stainless steel rub rails provides durability for offshore work, while three watertight bulkheads and reinforced hull structure support stability fins.
The boat accommodates three staterooms and two heads with flexible layout options. The master stateroom features a queen berth with cedar-lined hanging lockers and an en-suite head with shower. The VIP stateroom forward also has a queen berth with private head access. The third stateroom can be configured with over-under bunks or as a dedicated office space. The salon spans the full beam with an L-shaped settee, hi-low table, and large windows bringing natural light throughout. The galley includes dual induction ranges, a convection oven, microwave, refrigerator with bottom freezer, and substantial counter and storage space suitable for long-term provisioning.
Systems are comprehensive for extended cruising. The 1,200-gallon fuel capacity with dual Racor filters, 300 gallons of freshwater storage, and 150-gallon black water tank support ocean passages. Twin Westmar bow and stern thrusters, a Maxwell windlass with 400 feet of chain and an 88-pound anchor, and a 16-kilowatt generator provide full-time liveaboard capability. Victron power management, eight AGM house batteries totaling 2,040 amp-hours, and a 4,000-watt inverter-charger support 24VDC systems throughout. A 50,000-BTU reverse-cycle climate control system maintains comfort in all conditions.
The exterior includes a Portuguese bridge with molded seating, a full flybridge with helm controls, an extended aft cockpit with solid-surface counter and stainless sink, wide side decks with 1.5-inch stainless rails, and deck washdowns forward and aft. An opening deck hatch above the forward stateroom and transom gates provide easy access. Interior finishes feature hand-selected hardwood trim, acoustic headliners, designer window treatments, cherry and holly flooring in main spaces, and Caesarstone surfaces in heads. All cabinetry is furniture-grade with full-extension drawer guides and euro hinges.
