The Dragonfly 40 is a 40-foot trimaran with a beam of 27.58 feet, built in fiberglass as a pure sailing yacht. Designed for both offshore cruising and high-speed performance, it combines stability with responsive handling. The hull incorporates a retractable centerboard and kick-up rudder, allowing shallow-water anchoring and beaching. The boat features a Swing Wing folding system that narrows the beam from 27 feet 7 inches to 13 feet 1 inch for easier marina docking.
The interior offers full standing headroom with a main salon, two private double cabins, and an enclosed head with shower. The rig is available in multiple configurations: a standard carbon mast with self-tacking jib for cruising, a taller rig with overlapping furling headsail for enhanced sail area, or versions optimized for speed. All lines are led aft to enable single-handed or short-handed operation, supported by electric winches.
Construction options include standard fiberglass throughout or a carbon-enhanced version featuring pre-preg carbon components and autoclave-cured floats, beams, structural bulkheads, centerboard trunk, and under-deck mast support for reduced weight and increased stiffness. The carbon variants maintain the same rig options as standard versions, with a high-performance option offering the tallest rig and largest sail area available.
The trimaran design delivers minimal heeling in heavy air, with reported heel angles of 5 to 7 degrees under sail. Speeds are said to reach 24 knots across the board variants.
