This 1947 William Garden 36 Custom Yawl is a wood-hulled sailing yacht with a long keel and a single 19-horsepower Volvo diesel engine. Built from original old-growth yellow cedar planking, the hull was found in very good condition at a 2021 survey. The topsides, deck, and bottom were repainted in 2024. Classic bronze hardware adorns the exterior, complemented by matching sail covers with bronze patina.
The interior accommodates three sleeping berths and features substantial recent updates throughout. New fuel, water, and holding tanks were installed along with new plumbing including pumps, lines, and toilet. Electrical systems, wiring, charger, and breaker panels are also new. The galley includes a Dickinson Bristol stove that serves multiple functions—cooking, cabin heating, and hot water production through its integration with a new water heater. Appliances throughout are new.
The saloon showcases fine woodworking, with a new settee crafted from aromatic cedar, white oak, and yellow cedar, accompanied by a matching jumpseat in the pilothouse. The boat measures 36 feet in length with a 12-foot beam, offering a comfortable and well-appointed interior designed for extended cruising.
