The 2016 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 509 is a 50-foot cruising sailboat built on a fiberglass hull with a diesel Yanmar engine of 75 horsepower. Designed by Philippe Briand, the yacht features a high-aspect ratio sail plan that permits flexibility across different sailing conditions and sail configurations. The design balances seaworthiness with cruising comfort, hallmarks of the Sun Odyssey line.
The yacht accommodates four cabins and four heads, providing substantial space for extended cruising or entertaining. Below deck, the layout supports comfortable living for a cruising family or group. Topside, the boat carries full instrumentation and a complete sail inventory.
This example has been released from charter service and completed a comprehensive refit. The yacht sustained damage from Hurricane Irma, which was repaired in accordance with the builder's specifications. All repairs were completed prior to recent photography. Note that the boat does not include a generator.
