This 1961 Sparkman & Stephens Pipe Dream Cruising Sloop is a classic wooden cruiser designed by Francis S. Kinney. Featured in the seminal "Skene's Elements of Yacht Design," the design improves on the Concordia Yawl with a manageable sloop rig, additional pilot berth, upgraded galley, and a roomier cockpit. The hull is planked in mahogany using full-length timber with no butt joints, construction work that was completed at the Oscar Schelin Yard in Kungsor, Sweden in 1961.
The boat measures 36.6 feet in length with a 10.5-foot beam, offering sleeping and living accommodations suited to extended weekending and cruising. When stripped to bare hull in recent years, the seams proved exceptionally tight throughout. A Yanmar diesel engine was installed in 2022, providing auxiliary power for the sloop rig.
The yacht has benefited from consistent professional maintenance over more than two decades. A 2022 survey documents the boat's current condition and is available for review.
