This 1972 One Tonner was designed by Sparkman & Stephens (S&S n° 2119) and built by Craglietto for the 1973 One Ton Championship. At 37 feet overall with a 12-foot beam, the wooden hull carries a single 24 hp Nanni Kubota diesel engine, delivering cruising speeds around 7 knots and a top speed of 8 knots. The design performs particularly well in light winds when properly tuned and rigged.
The boat sleeps up to two in a forward cabin with excellent headroom, complemented by a single head. The saloon offers generous space and height, with stunning mahogany joinery throughout that reflects the era's finest craftsmanship. The layout balances racing efficiency with livable comfort for extended cruising.
Between October 2021 and January 2023, the boat underwent complete restoration. The wooden hull and deck were stripped to bare wood, then refinished with epoxy fillers and International Perfection paint in Oyster White. All deck structures were left as bright teak under fourteen coats of clear varnish, with non-slip treatment added. The complete rigging was replaced, including new standing rigging, running rigging, halyards, and sheets. The aluminum deck fittings were refurbished and repainted.
The electrical and hydraulic systems were entirely renewed, with new VHF radio, navigation lights, wind instruments, and a new electric windlass. Fresh water and waste systems were rebuilt with new tanks and pumps. A new Dometic refrigeration unit, modern galley stove, and external shower were installed. The diesel engine and hydraulic motor received full overhauls. A new electric toilet, battery management system with Victron components, and autopilot restoration completed the work. A new 2024 tender with Honda 2.3 hp motor, life raft, and safety gear are included.
