This 1971 Little Harbor 45 is a fiberglass sailboat built with the quality and attention to detail the yard was known for. Named Snowbird, she spent her first 45 years in the hands of a meticulous engineer who cruised the East Coast extensively before her current owner acquired her in 2017.
A comprehensive structural refit was undertaken with CW Hood Yachts, addressing the elements that matter most for longevity. The weather decks were replaced, the coach roof renewed, and the teak cabin house structure reinforced. New teak toe rails were fitted, deck hardware was carefully removed and refitted, and the foundation for a modern cockpit was created using current materials.
The boat's interior components were preserved throughout the work. Systems have been removed to accommodate modern replacements. A Yanmar 75-horsepower diesel has been rebuilt and is available but not currently installed. The structural work—the most demanding phase of the refit—is complete, leaving the boat with a sound hull and systems ready for finishing and customization according to the next owner's preferences.
