A 72-foot steel-hulled shrimp trawler built in 1972, this commercial fishing boat is designed and equipped for serious offshore work. The hull features all-welded steel construction with substantial plating—1-inch keel and stem, 5/16-inch bottom and sides, and reinforced framing on 21-inch centers. Bulwarks rise 50 inches forward, tapering to 30 inches aft, with a split-pipe rub-rail and adequate freeing ports. The boat was last hauled out in 2020.
Power comes from a Caterpillar 3408 V-8 diesel engine producing 402 horsepower, rebuilt in 2019. It drives a 59-inch bronze propeller via a Twin Disc MG-516 reduction gear with a 6-to-1 ratio. A 40-kilowatt John Deere diesel genset provides auxiliary power. Both engines employ keel-cooler cooling and dry exhaust systems. A CMC two-drum trawl winch mounted on the main engine's power take-off operates the fishing gear, with a separate 15-horsepower electric motor driving the try-net winch.
The freezer system includes a Carlyle compressor driven hydraulically off either main or auxiliary engine, with freezer plates mounted in the fish hold and a wood-and-fiberglass brine tank on deck. Two full-size cabins and one head provide crew accommodations. The pilothouse is equipped with Furuno radar and GPS, dual VHF radios (ICOM and YAESU), and a satellite phone. Twin bilge and wash-down pumps, along with fire-fighting equipment throughout, support safe operation. The trawl doors, nets, rigging, and all cable systems were inspected and found in good condition.
