1973 Commercial Shrimp Trawler

This 72-foot steel shrimp trawler features a V-bottom hull with raked stem and round stern, built for Gulf of Mexico commercial fishing. The single Caterpillar 3408 diesel engine, rebuilt in 2019, produces 402 horsepower and drives the boat at 10 knots cruising speed through a bronze propeller in a kort nozzle. The vessel carries approximately 12,000 gallons of fuel and 2,000 gallons of freshwater.

The welded steel deckhouse includes a pilothouse with steering console, a separate head with shower, galley with four-burner electric stove and refrigeration, dining area, and two cabins—one with a single bunk for the captain and one with three bunks for crew. A 40-kilowatt Isuzu diesel genset provides 120/240-volt auxiliary power, while the 32-volt DC primary system uses eight 8-volt batteries with a 100-amp alternator.

The boat is equipped with a two-drum Douglas trawl winch, try-net winch, and an A-frame steel mast with boom and outriggers. Fishing systems include a Caryle compressor-driven freezer system with keel cooler and wood/fiberglass dip brine tank. Navigation gear consists of Furuno radar and GPS, dual VHF radios, 6-inch magnetic compass, and satellite phone. Mechanical steering with autopilot, comprehensive fire suppression with extinguishers tested in March 2023, and a six-person life raft with next inspection due June 2024 complete the safety inventory.
