1973 Amel Kirk

This 1973 Amel Kirk is a 36-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat with a proven offshore pedigree. The current ownership stretches back to 1975, during which time the boat has received substantial updates to keep it capable and comfortable for extended voyaging.

The mainsail was fitted with a roller furling system for easier handling. In 2008, the boat received a new Yanmar 3GM diesel engine, which now carries approximately 775 hours. The refrigeration compressor was also replaced. Interior furnishings were renewed with new salmon-colored suede upholstery. The boat is steered by a tiller with a functional autopilot, supporting the kind of relaxed, traditional sailing the design was built for.

The Kirk remains ready for cruising passage-making and everyday sailing. Its moderate beam of nearly 10 feet and 36-foot length strike a practical balance between seaworthiness and ease of handling. The modifications made over the years reflect thoughtful stewardship aimed at maintaining both performance and habitability without compromising the boat's character.
