1973 Roughwater 35 Pilothouse Trawler

A 1973 Roughwater 35 Pilothouse Trawler designed by Ed Monk Sr., built from fiberglass with a full-displacement hull. The boat carries a single 120 hp Ford Lehman diesel engine paired with a large four-bladed propeller, engineered for stable and economical cruising at roughly 2 gallons per hour. A Side-Power stern thruster aids close-quarters handling and docking.

The pilothouse layout is traditional aft cabin design with an open wheelhouse amidships offering excellent sightlines and direct access to the side decks. Below, the aft cabin sleeps two and features two large hanging lockers. The forward cabin holds a v-berth with filler insert that sleeps two, while the salon dinette table lowers to create an additional double berth. A galley and salon occupy the central space, and a marine head with electric toilet and classic sink serve the accommodation area. Headroom throughout runs 6 feet 2 inches.

The interior is heated via a diesel forced-air furnace, with numerous opening ports and hatches providing ventilation and natural light. Electrical systems include a substantial house battery bank and a Victron 3000 watt inverter for power away from shore connections. The boat remains in sound condition after five decades of service.
