The Spencer 1330 is a 44-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in 1974 as the original mold plug. Powered by an Isuzu four-cylinder diesel engine of 74 horsepower with 1,800 hours, the boat cruises at 6 knots and reaches 9.6 knots under power. A 13-foot beam provides comfortable proportions, and the hull features a stand-up engine room with workbench. The boat carries a Flexofold three-blade bronze folding propeller and a Newage transmission.
The interior balances low-maintenance fiberglass topsides with substantial teak woodwork below. Two heads serve the accommodation, with forward and aft cabins offering multiple berths. The galley is equipped with a Force 10 three-burner stove and oven, microwave, two Vitrifrigo refrigerators, and an Engel freezer. A Dickinson Antarctic diesel heater with hydronic distribution provides warmth throughout. Total tankage includes 110 gallons of fuel across two tanks and 295 gallons of fresh water across four tanks.
Systems are comprehensive for extended cruising. Electrical power derives from a 270-amp alternator feeding dual 300-amp lithium LiFePO4 batteries, supported by 640 watts of solar panels. A Magnum 2000-watt inverter-charger, Spectra watermaker, and standalone 2000-watt pure sine inverter round out the core infrastructure. Navigation includes dual Garmin chart plotters, a 24-inch color radar on gimbal, and a Garmin chirp depth sounder. Communication systems comprise an Icom M802 single sideband radio with AT-140 tuner and an Icom M602 VHF.
Recent work completed in 2024 includes fresh bottom paint, hull-to-keel recaulking, keel bolt retorquing, installation of a new PYI dripless shaft seal, and sanding and varnishing of the cabin sole. The sail plan features new Schattauer mainsail and 125-percent yankee with one season of use, additional working headsails, staysail, and spinnaker. Ground tackle comprises a 73-pound Rocna primary anchor with 300 feet of chain, a 45-pound Delta secondary, and a Fortress stern anchor, all handled by a Quick Hector windlass. Safety equipment includes a Winslow six-to-nine-person liferaft repacked in May 2023 and an ACR Category 2 EPIRB. A Walker Bay inflatable tender with 9.9 outboard is included.
