1975 Cape George 36

The Cape George 36 is a fiberglass sailing yacht built for ocean cruising and proven in some of the world's most demanding conditions. Launched in 1975, this design has earned a strong reputation for seaworthiness and reliable performance. The hull is hand-laid fiberglass, 1/2" to 1" thick, with a full-length keel and transom-hung rudder. At 23,300 pounds displacement with 10,500 pounds of internal lead ballast, the boat offers excellent stability and self-righting ability. The cutter rig provides flexibility in sail plan options, and a 55-horsepower Westerbeke diesel engine handles auxiliary power.

The layout provides one cabin and one head. Recent work in late 2025 included new bottom paint and fresh non-skid on the deck with a mahogany subfloor. The cabin house received new paint and non-skid treatment as well. Engine mechanical work completed in 2024 involved a new Hearth transmission, heat exchanger service, and new hoses and filters. Rigging upgrades from 2024 include new sheets and halyards, a custom spruce wood tiller, and a Monitor wind vane. A custom Jordan series drogue with stern chainplates was installed for storm management.

The boat carries a comprehensive electronics suite: B&G Triton display, Simrad GPS chartplotter and radar, iCOM VHF and single sideband radio, and AIS. Navigation features dual AGM 8D batteries installed in 2024, a Xantrex charger, and three solar panels. A Pelagic heavy tiller pilot handles steering automation. Sails include mainsail and yankee from North and Quantum, plus a spinnaker with sock and dedicated storm canvas. Additional systems include a Marine Village water maker, Maxwell windlass installed in 2025, Force 10 stove, and hurricane refrigeration. Ground tackle consists of Bruce and CQR anchors with 300 feet of chain on each.
