This 404-foot RoPax ferry was built in Belgium in 1974 and received a major refit and upgrade in 2017. The steel-hulled ship accommodates up to 1,680 passengers for day voyages and can carry 250 cars or 180 cars with 20 trailer trucks across multiple vehicle decks. It holds RINA class certification and operates under a Greek flag.
Two Semt Pielstick diesel engines, each producing 9,000 horsepower, deliver a service speed of approximately 20 to 21 knots when loaded or unloaded. The vessel burns roughly 2.2 metric tons of fuel per hour at service speed and carries three auxiliary diesel generators plus an emergency genset. Twin Kamewa four-bladed propellers and a Kamewa bow thruster provide propulsion and maneuvering. A pair of Renk-Tacke reduction gears and AEG-Denny Brown stabilizers support efficient operation.
Passenger accommodation consists of 24 cabins with 68 berths total, including 2 outside deluxe cabins, 8 four-berth outside cabins with facilities, and various smaller cabin types. Public areas span multiple decks with three lounges totaling over 1,100 seats, a cinema, retail shop, open bar, and children's facilities. The ship maintains 75 heads throughout and comprehensive climate control via multiple air conditioning units.
Comprehensive navigation equipment includes dual radars, gyrocompass and autopilot, VHF systems with DSC capability, MF radiotelephony, NAVTEX receiver, and multiple EPIRB and SART units. Life-saving provisions include motor lifeboats, hand-propelled lifeboats, 36 launchable liferafts, and rescue craft with combined capacity exceeding 1,200 persons.
