The Bilinga is a 1977 custom sloop built from exotic wood with a composite hull. Designed and constructed by Bouvier and Jouffray using five-ply marine plywood 22.5 mm thick, she measures 10.88 metres in length with a beam of 3.6 metres and displaces 9,000 kilograms. A 3,000-kilogram lead keel gives her a draft of 1.75 metres. She is powered by a Yanmar 4JH5E diesel engine of 54 horsepower with shaft drive and a Variprofile VP76 propeller.
Below deck, the boat offers two cabins with four berths plus two additional berths in the saloon, one head with shower, and a forepeak locker. Water capacity is 300 litres across two stainless steel tanks, fuel capacity 150 litres in a stainless steel tank, and she carries a blackwater holding tank. The galley features a refrigerator, two-burner gas cooktop, stainless steel sink, and hot and cold water mixer, with extensive storage throughout the cabin and aft passageway.
Navigation and safety systems are comprehensive. Electronics include a Raymarine Axium 9-inch multifunction display, Raymarine EV400 autopilot, Furuno radar, Navicom RT450 VHF radio with DSC, AIS transponder, Garmin anemometer, Advensea tridata display, and a 200-watt solar panel on the aft rail. An electric Lofrans Cayman 1000W windlass handles two anchors—16 kilograms and 10 kilograms—with 40 metres of chain and 50 metres of rode. A Furlex headsail roller furler and rigid Sparcraft boom downhaul complete the deck gear.
The sail wardrobe includes a full-batten mainsail with two reefs at 32 square metres, a 53 square metre dacron jib, 38 square metre staysail, 110 square metre asymmetric spinnaker, and a storm jib. The aft rail carries a stainless steel arch, and a 2024 canvas dodger protects the cockpit. The hull is in sound condition throughout, maintained consistently over the years of cruising service.
