1978 Grand Banks 36 Classic

This 1978 Grand Banks 36 is a fiberglass displacement trawler with solid seakeeping characteristics. The 36-foot hull carries a beam of just over 12 feet and is powered by twin Ford Lehman diesel engines producing 240 horsepower combined, with four-blade bronze propellers. Cruising speed runs to 8.5 knots, with a maximum of 10 knots. An electric windlass handles anchoring duties.

The interior layout includes two cabins and two heads. The galley features a custom installation with an oversized RV-style refrigerator that operates on both DC and AC power, along with a built-in microwave—both upgrades from the original design that substantially increase storage and convenience.

The trawler underwent extensive work in 2018 following its delivery to Maine. The bottom received a complete repainting, with blistering addressed through sandblasting and filling before multiple coats of primer and paint. Both propellers were refurbished and the port shaft was replaced. The main cabin received a new door, and the aft cabin door was rebuilt. The forward hatch was renewed, the cutlass bearing was replaced, and swim platform stainless mounts were fitted. Exterior teak received five coats of Cetol, and the flybridge area was sanded, with fiberglass cracks repaired and finished in Awlgrip white paint.

Electronics include a Raymarine ES98 and Axiom 7 display, Quantum radar, CHIRP sonar, GPS antenna, and ICOM M424 VHF radio. Engine maintenance on the injectors was completed during the same period.
