1978 Hatteras 53 Convertible

This 1978 Hatteras 53 Convertible is a fiberglass-hulled sportfishing yacht powered by twin Detroit Diesel 12V71 engines producing 900 horsepower. The engines underwent major overhaul in 2007 and the starboard engine was rebuilt in June 2026. The hull is solid fiberglass, built to traditional Hatteras standards with strong offshore performance and seakeeping characteristics.

The accommodations include two staterooms and two heads. The layout features a spacious salon, an expansive cockpit, and VacuFlush heads throughout. An Onan 15 kW generator is installed, and the interior has been updated with new carpet and canvas.

Recent maintenance includes completion of all recommendations from an April 2025 survey and haulout inspection. The starboard engine rebuild was completed in June 2026. The boat has been professionally maintained and lightly cruised over its years in Mexico.
