The 1978 Marine Trader 40 Europa is a full-displacement trawler built for serious cruising. Its fiberglass hull is overbuilt for seaworthiness and durability, with extensive teak and mahogany throughout for a warm, traditional interior. The 40-foot platform offers a spacious layout suited to extended time aboard, with comfortable accommodations designed around the cruising lifestyle.
Two John Deere diesel engines deliver 300 horsepower combined and cruise efficiently at 10 knots, burning approximately 3 gallons per hour when both are running. Maximum speed reaches 13 knots. The beam of 13.75 feet provides stability and generous interior volume typical of the Europa's hull form.
The bottom was painted with Trinidad antifouling and new anodes were installed in July 2026. A swim platform constructed from StarBoard decking with 316 stainless steel brackets was also added at that time.
