1983 Ocean Alexander 40 Double Cabin

The 1983 Ocean Alexander 40 is a fiberglass trawler built on a semi-displacement hull with hard chines and full-length keel, delivering solid directional stability suited to coastal and inland cruising. Twin Volvo Penta 145 hp diesel engines power the boat, with just 3,000 hours logged. A 5 kW Northern Lights generator, installed recently with only 70 hours, supports the electrical systems alongside a Magnum inverter and Xantrex charger. The flybridge features new canvas with isinglass, a windshield with wiper, and full sunshades; teak brightwork has been refinished throughout.

The two-stateroom, two-head layout provides genuine separation and living space within the 40-foot length and 13.33-foot beam. Teak interior joinery reflects the original craftsmanship of the design. A propane cooktop and oven handle galley duties, while a new hot water heater supplies both heads. Garmin electronics handle navigation, and the boat carries a Boston Whaler tender with a Mercury 9.9 hp outboard.

Recent maintenance spans 2022 through early 2025 and includes engine fuel system overhauls on both motors, new raw water pumps, new exhaust components, canvas and teak refinishing, bottom paint and zincs, a new forward bilge pump, shower and black water system upgrades, and new thru-hull water system fittings. A boarding ladder was added at the swim platform.
