This 1978 Tayana 37 is a fiberglass sailing yacht designed by Robert Perry for serious offshore cruising. The hull combines the design's classic seaworthiness with proven construction and a cutter rig configuration. Power comes from a 50 hp Perkins diesel engine, with a cruising speed of 6 knots. The boat carries a comprehensive suite of sails including a fully battened mainsail (Hood, 2019), furling genoa, storm jib, gennaker, trisail, staysail, yankee, and drifter, all rigged with multiple Lewmar and Barlow winches.
The single cabin accommodates one head and includes an oven, microwave, refrigerator, and deep freezer. The boat is fitted with a Spectra Ventura 150 watermaker and carries 540 watts of solar panels alongside a Northern Lights 5kW generator and Victron charging system. Navigation electronics include B&G Vulcan 7 plotter, radar, autopilot, and an ICOM M700 Pro SSB radio with AIS-equipped VHF. A Lofrans windlass manages ground tackle: four anchors (CQR 45 lb, two Bruce anchors, and a Fortress 37 spare) with appropriate scope.
Outside equipment includes a Monitor windvane, AB inflatable dinghy with 2009 build and 2007 Yamaha 9 hp outboard, teak decking and furnishings, bimini top, and cockpit shower. The boat carries comprehensive safety gear including life jackets, lifesling, sea anchor, and emergency tiller. Davits and outboard bracket are fitted for tender operations. The yacht has been stored ashore since July 2021 and includes spare parts for paint, fiberglass, and hardware, along with a collection of cruising guides.
