1978 Tayana 37

The Tayana 37 is a proven bluewater cruiser, and this 1978 example has been extensively rebuilt for serious offshore work. Over eight years, the owner completed major upgrades throughout: new standing and running rigging with titanium chainplates, rebuilt rudder, repowered diesel engine with new fuel tank, and comprehensive electrical and plumbing systems work to ABYC standards. The rig includes new sails and a tanbark sail plan. A Monitor windvane and custom hard dodger complete the steering and shelter setup. The boat was liveaboard-maintained during this period and represents a no-compromise approach to preparation for extended cruising.

The layout offers two cabins and one head, designed for self-reliant voyaging rather than space. The Perkins 40 hp diesel provides a reliable 6-knot cruising speed. Interior systems have been modernized and the overall fit-out reflects the owner's commitment to simplicity and durability—the approach favored by experienced ocean sailors.
