The Maple Leaf 54 is a center cockpit cutter built for serious cruising, with a fiberglass hull reinforced by closed-cell foam core and a protected skeg-hung rudder. The boat carries a single Ford Lehman 120 diesel engine paired with a Kubota generator, delivering cruising speeds around 5.5 knots with capability up to 7.5 knots. Dual helm stations—one in the cockpit and one within the pilothouse—allow command from either location, each with independent shift and throttle controls.

The accommodations span three cabins: a full master aft with a queen berth, two heads with shower and tub access, generous windows and ports, and substantial storage throughout. Two guest cabins forward provide additional berths, with the V-berth cabin featuring an opening skylight. The bright and airy salon sits amidships with a galley equipped with a four-burner Force 10 stove and dual-compressor refrigeration. A pilothouse forward of the salon includes a chart table and provides shelter for night passages.

Systems are comprehensive and recent: the engine received a top-end rebuild in 2017 (6,600 total hours from new), and the generator was rebuilt in 2019. Solar generation includes three 325-watt panels with Midnite Solar MPPT charge control. Fresh water capacity totals 400 gallons across two tanks, fuel storage comprises four tanks with 400 gallons total, and a 30 GPH water maker handles desalination. The rig features roller furlers on both mainsail and genoa with new forestays installed in 2019, a Maxwell electric windlass replaced in 2017, and a spinnaker stowed in good condition.

Ground tackle includes a 40-kilogram Rocna anchor on the bow roller with secondary Bruce anchor and 550 feet of chain combined. Electronics encompass dual VHF radios updated in 2019, SSB with ICOM transceiver, Furuno radar, and Iridium satellite communication. A bow thruster with center cockpit control and a teak swim platform with stainless steel ladder complete the equipment package.
