1980 Dickerson Center Cockpit Ketch

This 41-foot Dickerson Center Cockpit Ketch is a fiberglass-hulled cruising sailboat built in 1980, one of only 19 examples of this model ever constructed. The design combines traditional offshore seaworthiness with a center cockpit layout that provides both working space and access to a private aft owner's cabin. A Yanmar 44 hp diesel engine powers the ketch rig, which features deck-stepped aluminum spars, standing rigging replaced in 2009, and a versatile sail plan including fully battened mainsail, genoa, high-cut jib, mizzen, and mizzen staysail paired with a Harken headsail furler and Lewmar self-tailing winches.

Below decks, the interior is finished in teak cabinetry with teak and holly sole and traditional Herreshoff-style painted bulkheads. The main salon offers approximately 6'6" of headroom and includes a forward guest stateroom, convertible dinette with sea berths, navigation station, and a U-shaped sea galley with generous counter space and storage. The galley is equipped with a Shipmate 3-burner gimbaled stove and oven, Waeco refrigeration system renewed in 2022, double stainless steel sinks, and water filtration. A protected cockpit with new enclosure (2022) provides shelter and visibility underway.

The boat carries comprehensive cruising equipment including a Garmin GPSMAP chartplotter, Raymarine Evolution autopilot installed in 2022, Raymarine wind and depth instruments, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS, and Icom M802 SSB radio. A Spectra Ventura watermaker system, dual Raritan heads, and automatic fire suppression in the engine room support extended offshore cruising. Electrical systems include three adjustable solar panels with MPPT controller, Balmar high-output alternator, shore power with charger, and a new starter battery.

Ground tackle consists of a Rocna 33 anchor and Delta secondary with electric windlass controlled from helm and foredeck. The boat includes a Highfield UL290 RIB dinghy from 2021 with a Tohatsu 9.8 hp 2-stroke outboard from 2020, mounted on Martek davits. A rail-mounted grill and custom cockpit table with cushions complete the deck arrangements. A dripless PSS shaft seal and Racor fuel filtration system support the mechanical systems.
