This 1980 Ta Shing Baba 30 is a Robert Perry design built for serious offshore sailing. The fiberglass hull carries a 12,000-pound displacement with a full cutaway keel, topped by a Sitka spruce mast and equipped with roller furling on the headsails, lazy jacks on the main, and a complete sail plan including main, yankee, staysail, and spinnaker. Pedestal steering with mounted autopilot provides the control setup for extended passages.
Below deck, the interior features teak throughout, with a galley equipped with a two-burner propane stove and oven, a Frigoboat fridge/freezer, and pressure hot and cold water. Navigation electronics include a Simrad NSS8 chartplotter loaded with Navionics Gold charting for US and Bahamas waters, an RS35 VHF with AIS, and 3G radar. Ground tackle consists of two CQR anchors and a Danforth, managed by a Maxwell HRC10 electric windlass.
Power comes from the original Volvo Penta diesel with a rebuilt transmission. The electrical system includes West Marine 8D and starting batteries with an excellent charging system. Additional equipment includes a diesel cabin heater for comfort in cooler climates. The boat has been sailed extensively on the Great Lakes over the past two decades and was in sail-away condition when hauled for winter storage. Custom covers for the hatch and steering station are included.
