The Acapella is a 1982 Greene Marine 35 trimaran, one of only five WG-35 designs built. With a 35-foot length and 29-foot beam, the boat exemplifies Walter Green's vision for fast ocean cruising. The composite hull is powered by a 10 hp Yamaha outboard fitted new in 2023 with minimal running hours, paired with a 52-foot rotating mast designed by Roger Hatfield and built in Port Townsend. This 4/5 fractional rig carries a main with three reefs, jib on roller furler, and spinnaker capability via an articulating carbon bow pole.
The boat carries a comprehensive modern electronics suite including a Raymarine 7-inch hybrid chartplotter and autopilot, Furuno 24-mile radar, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS, and wind instrumentation. Navigation systems meet Pac Cup requirements with dual lighting arrays for rotating masts. The electrical system runs on 12-volt DC through a 105 Ah AGM battery and dual 140-watt Kyocera solar panels mounted on the aft crossbeams, supplemented by additional solar capacity available for installation.
Deck equipment includes two anchors with chain and rode, twin sets of Lewmar winches ranging from size 6 to 48, and Harken hardware throughout. The sail inventory consists of a carbon mainsail with three reefs, carbon jib in good condition, lightly-used screecher, and an asymmetrical spinnaker, along with older sails for practice or delivery. Accommodations feature a two-burner propane galley stove, stainless steel sink, dual flexible water tanks totaling 200 liters, and a portable head. Safety gear includes life slings, distress signals, fire extinguishers, and an EPIRB.
The standing rigging is 1x19 stainless steel, largely renewed in 2009 with the headstay replaced around 2016. The boat has been actively maintained for ocean cruising and carries the history of multiple transoceanic passages.
