The 1982 Nautor Swan 51 is a world-class bluewater cruiser designed by the legendary Germán Frers and built by Finland's Nautor Swan. Hand-laid fiberglass construction with a solid keel, integrated water-tank system, and teak decks throughout exemplify Swan's approach to durability and structural integrity. A Perkins M90 90-horsepower diesel engine with 4,400 hours provides proven reliability, while a folding three-blade propeller minimizes drag under sail. The boat has completed extensive offshore passages in the Pacific, Mexico, and Hawaii, including single and double-handed circumnavigation.
The interior spans a large, well-appointed main salon with teakwood dining table, full galley, and dedicated navigation station outfitted with B&G, Furuno, and Simrad electronics. Three cabins include a forward cabin with two bunks to port and a separate two-bunk cabin to starboard, plus a large aft master cabin with private head. The forward head features a new Raritan electric unit, while the aft head retains a Baby Blake manual pump for offshore redundancy. A galley includes double refrigerators, double sink, gimbal oven with gas stovetop, microwave, and a PowerSurvivor freshwater maker. Tankage consists of 100 gallons of fuel, 200 gallons of fresh water across integrated hull tanks, and approximately 20 gallons of holding capacity.
Recent major maintenance includes a full hull refit in October 2025 with surface fairing, epoxy barrier coats, and antifouling paint; a new Raritan forward head in spring 2025; house heater reconditioning in 2025; and replacement of all house and engine batteries in 2024. A 2020 rig inspection is on file. The boat requires modest cosmetic investment including new deck paint and replacement of several teak deck strips currently underway.
A comprehensive cruising package accompanies the boat: complete sail inventory with new genoa from 2023, main, staysail, storm jib, main trysail, symmetrical spinnaker, and two asymmetrical spinnakers with turtle collars; extensive rigging hardware including Aries wind vane, spinaker pole, and whisker pole; full anchoring setup with multiple anchors and rode; safety equipment including eight-man Avon liferaft; navigation and engine spares; tools and maintenance supplies; and deck gear.
