This 1982 12 Metre was designed by Pedrick Yacht Designs and built by Newport Offshore under the Third International Rule, with particular emphasis on light-air performance through early computer modeling and hydrodynamic testing. At 64 feet overall with a 12-foot beam, the aluminum-hulled yacht was originally designated US-33 and competed in the 1983 America's Cup Defender Trials under skipper Tom Blackaller. Over her operating life, she cruised extensively along the California coast before returning to the racing circuit.
Between 2010 and 2018, the yacht underwent a comprehensive structural and systems overhaul. The hull was soda-blasted and refinished with epoxy paint, and the deck was redesigned with new winch islands and hardware. A 2008 Sail Spars carbon mast and 2007 Composite Engineering carbon boom replaced earlier spars. The rudder was rebuilt in carbon by Composite Solutions. Standing rigging was upgraded to a Navtec system with titanium components, and the winch package was replaced with a hybrid Barient arrangement. Navigation systems include B&G H5000 and Garmin GNX120 displays. Electrical systems comprise twin AGM batteries with charger and dockside power.
The sail inventory reflects her racing focus and includes Quantum and Doyle mainsails, Code 1–3 headsails, and multiple spinnakers across various weights. Extensive spare parts, tools, and additional sails are included. The yacht returned to racing in 2017 and competed in the 2019 12 Metre World Championship in the Modern Division. She is compliant with 12 Metre Class rules and professionally maintained with offseason dry storage.
