The Schock NY 36 is a 1982 racing sailboat designed by Naval Architect Bill Cook for one-design and IOR handicap competition. Built on a fiberglass hull, it measures 36 feet in length with an 11-foot-7-inch beam. The boat was engineered for the demanding conditions of San Francisco Bay—strong afternoon winds, steep chop, and competitive racing—with a powerful sail plan and relatively light displacement that deliver responsive performance.
The yacht is powered by a single 16-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine. Accommodation includes two cabins and one head, providing basic sleeping and sanitary facilities for extended cruising or racing campaigns.
Originally designed and raced by members of the New York Yacht Club in the 1980s, the NY 36 class also established itself on the West Coast, where several boats competed in local racing programs. This example retains the specifications of the original design.
