This 1983 Dyer 29 Downeast Express is a full-keel, seaworthy cruiser powered by a Yanmar 6LP-DTE 250 hp diesel engine with approximately 500 hours of runtime. The engine was reportedly installed in 2001. At just under 30 feet overall length with a 9.5-foot beam and shallow 1-foot-8-inch draft, the boat combines classic downeast design with practical cruising capability. The fiberglass hull and modest dimensions make this model well-suited to coastal and offshore conditions.
Recent upgrades include a new Garmin chartplotter, updated ICOM VHF radio, new Furuno radar, and a recently installed fuse panel. Navigation and fish-finding electronics comprise a Hummingbird depth finder and older Furuno radar. The boat carries dual freshwater systems with both pressure and manual pumps, three bilge pumps, and a saltwater washdown pump. Fuel capacity is 120 gallons across two tanks.
Accommodation and safety equipment include an Isotherm 12/120V refrigerator, four newer 4D batteries installed in 2023, and a Maxwell electric anchor windlass with chain and rode. Canvas and isinglass were recently renewed. The boat is currently in the water with systems commissioned and ready for use.
