The 1983 Islander Freeport is a 41-foot bluewater cruiser built on a fiberglass hull with a 13.17-foot beam and 5-foot draft, displacing 22,000 pounds. She is rigged as a staysail ketch and powered by a Perkins 4.236 diesel engine producing 85 horsepower, paired with a ZF 25 transmission. Both engine and transmission were rebuilt in 2021 with fewer than 300 hours of use. The boat carries 145 gallons of aluminum fuel capacity and 188 gallons of stainless steel water capacity, both replaced in 2023.
The sail plan consists of a mainsail and self-tacking staysail from 2020, an 80 percent high-cut jib, and a mizzen sail from 2021. All running rigging is new, and the boat features a Monitor wind vane with mounting kit, a Winchard boom brake, and mast steps to the top. Navigation and electronics include dual Raymarine Axiom 9 chartplotters, AIS 700, autopilot, external GPS, Quantum Chirp radar, and depth sounder, along with an Iridium Go marine package.
The electrical system is built around three LiFePo4 battery banks totaling 840 amp-hours at 24 volts, paired with a comprehensive Victron Energy setup including a MultiPlus inverter/charger, Cerbo GX display, and multiple charge controllers and DC converters. A Vetus 24-volt bow thruster, dual Lewmar and Lofrans windlasses, and a full suite of anchoring equipment support seamless handling. Below deck, the boat offers two cabins and features a 24-volt Electrosan head, Dometic freezer, refrigerator, European induction cooktop and convection oven, LED lighting throughout, and hot and cold fresh water systems. Multiple redundant bilge pumps, a washdown system, new port lights, and completely new wiring throughout the boat and mast complete the refit.
