This 1984 Sabre MK 1 is a 38-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat with a fin keel design that opens up the main cabin for comfortable living space. The boat was repowered in 2017 with a Beta 38-horsepower diesel engine paired with a three-blade Flexofold propeller, carrying only 452 hours. A comprehensive set of updates over the past 15 years includes a new hot water tank, mast and boom repaint, and refurbished deck hatches.
The layout sleeps five to six with a forward V-berth, two settee berths in the main cabin, and a quarter berth aft. The galley features a gimbaled three-burner propane stove with oven, refrigerator with freezer, double stainless steel sink, and good stowage. There is plenty of headroom throughout, and a large folding dining table serves the main cabin. The head has a manual toilet and sink; an in-head shower is non-operational, but an outdoor cockpit shower is available.
Navigation and sail handling are well-equipped. Electronics include a Simrad NSS8 chart plotter, Simrad autopilot, Lowrance radar, Raymarine ST60 instruments for wind and depth, and a Standard Horizon VHF with integrated AIS. The sail plan comprises two 2008 North Sails (main with two reef points and 145 percent genoa), a spare 1993 North genoa, and an asymmetrical spinnaker. Deck hardware includes multiple Lewmar winches and Spinlock rope clutches fitted in 2015, plus a Maxwell electric capstan added in 2014.
The boat's systems have been extensively rebuilt and upgraded: plumbing replaced throughout, seacocks rebuilt, fresh water pump and head renewed, electrical upgraded with Group 31 batteries and a 24-volt lithium battery, LED lighting installed, and the bottom given a barrier coat. A 44-pound Rocna anchor with 90 feet of chain and 200 feet of rode was added in 2014. The boat carries 96 gallons of fresh water, 30 gallons of fuel, and a 24-gallon holding tank.
