1986 Alsberg Brothers Express 37

The Express 37 is a purpose-built performance cruiser built by Alsberg Brothers, known for responsive sailing paired with practical cruising capability. Hull #26 features a fin keel, tiller steering, and an upgraded carbon elliptical rudder. The fiberglass hull displaces 9,800 pounds with 4,600 pounds of lead ballast and draws 7.25 feet, giving it solid tracking and seaworthiness in varied conditions.

The Yanmar 2GMF diesel was fully rebuilt in 2023 with transmission work completed and has approximately 20 hours of running time since. Fuel capacity is 30 gallons with 85 gallons of water. Standing rigging was upgraded to rod with new turnbuckles roughly two years ago. The boat carries a Quantum mainsail added in 2023 that is lightly used, plus 100% jib and 142% genoa in good condition, an asymmetric spinnaker also in good condition, a carbon spinnaker pole, and stack pack with lazy jacks. A 2-blade folding propeller is fitted.

Below, the boat has basic accommodations with an icebox, Isotherm water heater, and galley. The interior shows wear throughout, and there is known core damage in portions of the side and aft decks that will require attention. Despite cosmetic and structural work ahead, the recent mechanical investments—engine rebuild, standing rigging replacement, and new mainsail—provide a solid foundation in critical systems.
