The Catalina 36 Mark I remains one of the world's most recognizable cruising sailboats. Hull #616 is a freshwater example that cruised the Great Lakes and Mississippi River system from Milwaukee to Mobile. The boat retains the robust fiberglass construction and sailing character that made the design popular, powered by a Universal diesel engine of 35 horsepower with low engine hours from seasonal use.
Recent maintenance includes bottom paint, inspection and service of through-hulls, and professional mast and rigging inspection with replacements made as needed. The propeller was serviced in October 2025. The sails—main, 130 genoa, and 150 genoa—are in active condition, fitted with a stack pack main cover and lazy jacks. A full winter canvas cover is included.
The boat is set up for comfortable cruising with a full cockpit enclosure, cockpit cushions, and folding table. Below deck, accommodations include one head and galley equipment: a propane grill, combination microwave/air fryer/convection oven with broiler function, DC refrigeration, and water filter system. An AC unit and LED lighting are installed throughout. A trailer is available with the sale.
