The 1986 Jeanneau Sun Shine 38 is a seagoing cruising yacht built with a Kevlar composite hull that balances light weight, strength, and durability. Designed for fast cruising, the boat combines a carefully developed hull form with responsive rigging to maintain good course-keeping and handling even in heavy conditions. The design reduces rolling and delivers comfort over long passages while offering the performance and feedback sailors seek at the helm.
The yacht carries a full suit of sails: a full-batten mainsail with three automatic reefs, a genoa, an asymmetrical spinnaker, and a new, unused storm jib. This sail plan provides versatility across wind conditions, from coastal cruising to offshore passage-making, and allows a small crew to manage the boat safely and easily. The yacht is equipped with a complete electronics package including GPS, sounder, wind instrument, autopilot, and heading and speed instruments for coastal and offshore navigation.
Interior space is arranged for extended cruising comfort. The spacious, well-lit saloon serves as the main living area and dining space with clear views outside. Three cabins and a practical head provide accommodation, and numerous stowage areas throughout help organize gear and personal effects for longer voyages.
Recent maintenance work has been carried out: the engine underwent major overhaul in 2023, and the standing rigging was replaced in 2025. A new anchor and chain were installed in 2025. The yacht is powered by a single 40 hp Yanmar diesel engine and reaches a cruising speed of 8 knots.
